Access policy: Free public access. Please bring proof of ID in order to register. Readers are advised to contact The Women's Library before their visit.
Accessibility: The Women's Library is fully accessible to wheelchair users, with lift access to all areas. Please contact us for details of Blue Badge Holder parking in the local area. There are accessible toilets on two floors. The Clore Seminar Room is equipped with an induction loop, and guide dogs and hearing dogs are welcome in all public areas. Clear print versions of our leaflets are available on request. If you require particular assistance to visit The Women's Library we will be happy to help - please contact us in advance for details. Staff are very happy to help in any way they can when you visit the Reading Room and we recommend that you discuss your visit with us before you come. Clear print copies of the registration form and details are available from the reception desk and you can register on the day you visit providing you bring some proof of identity with you. We can take items off shelves for you or carry material to your desk. We can also enlarge some material on the photocopier, depending on the age and condition of the item. Please ask for help at the Enquiry Desk. We also have: Hand held magnifying glasses, kept at the Enquiry Desk A computer terminal with a 19 inch monitor, large print keyboard with yellow lettering on a black background and trackerball so you can access the catalogue, archives guide and web resources A hand-held trackerball attached to one of the computers Supernova software that will magnify and read text, again for access to the catalogue, archives guide and web resources A flatbed scanner and Kurzweil software to enable pages from books and periodicals to be scanned and read aloud. In addition, electronic versions of individual Archive and Museum catalogues are available, as text rather than database, by contacting the Reading Room Enquiry Desk
Opening hours: Tuesday - Friday 9.30am - 5.00pm, Thursday 9.30am - 8.00pm, Saturday 10.00am - 4.00pm. Exhibitions are open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.30pm, with a late evening opening on Thursday until 8.00pm. Saturday hours are 10.00am to 4.00pm. The Wash Houses Cafe is open Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 4.00pm, Saturday 11.00am to 4.00pm (during exhibition opening dates on Saturdays only)

Womens Library Collection
The Library was established in 1926 and documents all aspects of women's lives. The collection includes material on women’s rights, suffrage, sexuality, health, education, employment, reproductive rights, the family and the home. The stock includes 60,000 printed books and pamphlets; 2,500 periodical titles; ephemera; press cuttings; over 400 archive collections; oral histories; visual materials including postcards, banners, badges, photographs and posters. ,
