| Access policy: | Public access. The library is open to everyone with no membership required. Bishopsgate Library is an indpendent library, funded by the Bishopsgate Foundation. It is open to everyone, with no membership fee. All visitors are welcome to explore the library's unique and internationally recognised historical collections. It also provides space to read or study. Computers with internet access are available at a charge of one pound per hour. |

Bishopsgate Library general collection
Bishopsgate Library offers free public access to its world-renowned collections on London, labour, freethought and co-operation.
It is an independent library, wholly funded by Bishopsgate Foundation, and provides a focal point for research into the history and topography of London, in particular the East End and the freethought, early labour, and co-operative movements.
We have unique and fascinating historical collections and continue to collect a broad range of books, pamphlets and archival material.
In addition, the Library holds research materials for local and family historians, and maintains general reference materials and current national and local newspapers.
The library's printed collections include the London Collection, the Howell labour collection, the Co-operative Movement Collection relating to the history of co-operation, the Holyoake Collection on secularism, Bradlaugh Collection on freethought and the Freedom Press Collection on anarchism.
