This one is set in the Balkans before the outbreak of World War I. The British Consul in Trieste has gone missing, so Seymour has to sort out what could be an embarrassment for the government. The unstable political atmosphere of the Balkans in this era is well captured and there's a wide range of interesting characters in this light and witty read. Seymour is a likeable character too and hopefully the other novels will be as good.
