Dead Man In Trieste - Michael Pearce

ISBN: 1841196673

A Dead Man in Trieste is the first in a new series featuring Seymour of the Special Branch. Michael Pearce specialises in crime novels (with added humour) set all over the world. This one is set in the Balkans before the outbreak of World War I. The British Consul in Trieste has gone missing, so Seymour has to sort out what could be an embarrassment for the government. The unstable political atmosphere of the Balkans in this era is well captured and there's a wide range of interesting characters in this light and witty read. Seymour is a likeable character too and hopefully the other novels will be as good.
