The Poetry Book Society

The PBS is a membership organisation for young and old who love poetry. 2004 saw the publication of its Next Generation list of new British talent – if you haven’t already seen the list find out more, and if you have see what else the PBS can offer you

The Poetry Library

Although currently closed to personal visitors, during the refurbishment of its home in the Royal Festival Hall, the Poetry Library has a web presence and can answer email and telephone enquiries. The Poetry Society’s home in Covent Garden includes the Poetry Café which hosts almost daily poetry events, including performance and workshops.

Renaissance one

Renaissance one is an agency that represents artists and undertakes educational and promotional work in celebration of prose and the spoken word. Their website includes information about artists, books and other resources as well as details of live literature events.

Spread the Word

Spread the Word is a literature development agency which supports new writing and live literature in the capital. Spread the Word’s activities include seminars and mentoring for writers at all stages of development and the organisation encourages writers to make use of existing resources, including libraries in their work. Spread the Word have worked in support of Black Poets Ink by running a series of writing workshops. Find out more about what they have to offer

The Poetry Archive

Launched in November 2005, this audio service includes an array of contemporary poets reading their own work, recognising that the sound of a poem is as important as the written word on the page. The collection has been assembled by Poet Laureate Andrew Motion with recording producer, Richard Carrington.
